Maybe we're wrong, and there are more KinectV2 users out there. Right not there does not seem to be a large revenue increase with Kinectv2 based tracking ( to cover the cost of finalizing its development). Remember we don't bombard you with ads nor do we collect any kind of data from our users to sell to advertising companies like other developers do, so for us program and avatar sales are our only source of revenue. FaceRig is not subscription based, so if no new customers are coming in, then we have no revenue to continue to work on the program. Right now we need to focus our effort into the future (new features regarding to tracking and a better embodiment experience, and make it easier for everyone to create new 3D characters for FaceRig), we need to work on bringing more customers on mobile too. We are and have always been a small indie team and we have to be very mindful of our resources (revenue, vs monthly costs) in order to be able to keep people employed that work on developing FaceRig. And Kinect is hardly marketed by Microsoft anymore. All these steps take time and cost money. Work has been done on Kinect v1 and v2 to drive full body but to get that feature from a functional Alpha to stable release state there is a lot of work involved with polishing the feature, optimizing, building the interface, testing, localisations, UX, testing again. Indeed it was and we still have that code. Getting from prototype to release state eats up a lot of resources. Us continuing with its development is not viable from a resourcing standpoint. We worked on adding support for both Kinect v1 and Kinect v2, yet in the meantime Microsoft stopped supporting it we had a prototype, but Microsoft discontinued Kinect support for windows and newer versions of Xbox One altogether.
